We measure the turf area, identify your water district, and determine rebate eligibility before any work begins. ACWD, SCVWD, EBMUD, and MMWD all require pre-approval before installation starts — we handle this for you at no charge. Starting without pre-approval means forfeiting the rebate.
Existing sod, irrigation lines, and vegetation are removed completely. We deactivate and cap irrigation lines — or remove them entirely if requested. All organic material is hauled to licensed green waste facilities. The area is left with clean, flat subgrade ready for base preparation.
A minimum 3–4 inch layer of decomposed granite is installed and compacted to create a stable, freely draining base. On Bay Area clay soils, we may add a drainage fabric layer or coarser sub-base aggregate for improved percolation. Proper base preparation is what prevents turf from developing soft spots and low points over time.
Turf rolls are cut and fitted precisely, with seams oriented away from primary viewing angles and heat-welded for durability. Every seam is checked for visibility before infill goes in. A visible seam is a failure — we don’t leave until they disappear.
