Lost but Found: A Teacher’s Journey to Career Change

About me

My own career shift journey wasn’t easy. I graduated with a degree in psychology and didn’t know exactly what to do next. Drawing on my experience in volunteering with children, I decided to work as a nursery co-teacher. After a year, I realized that to progress further, I needed a teaching certificate. So, I studied for a PGDE for another year.

However, when COVID-19 hit, and after working in both Hong Kong and UK nurseries, I discovered that while I loved working with children, I did not enjoy the teaching environment. I didn’t feel the same fulfillment as I did when I was a volunteer.

Seeing my peers earning more and gaining more work experience, I felt a wave of self-doubt and worry. It took time and self-discovery to move from feeling stuck to thriving in Project Management and Business Development.

Now, I understand that life is never a straight path. It has detours, and everyone’s journey is different. I leverage my experiences and Asian perspective to help educators like you navigate career transitions or find fulfilment outside the classroom. Whether that’s through a career change, reigniting old hobbies, or discovering new passions, I’m here to support you.
